Best of 2013: Someecards and Memes

Back on July 24, 2012 (yes, I looked up the date of my first ecard), I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could in fact, create my own Someecards. Over a year later and 85 deep, it has been fun to see the various hits and misses. Some seem to really work, while others, well, not so much.

Pinterest has by far been the best resource for sharing and traffic, with Tumblr a respectable second. It’s odd how some become so popular on certain platforms but not on others. Different audiences I suppose. I also delved into the world of traditional “memes” on occasion, finding moderate success with the previously established “The Most Interesting Man in the World” format.

Anyway, here’s some of my most popular (according to Pinterest pins) from 2013! (p.s. I hope no one is offended by any of them. All in good fun, just trying to get a laugh!)

“He was cute and all, but if I wanted to be ignored on a daily basis, I’d just get a cat.”

Forever a dog person, sorry. 🙂

someecards.com - I miss the days when creepy objects were mostly a Halloween thing. Looking at you, Elf on the Shelf.

“I miss the days when creepy objects were mostly a Halloween thing.”

Wasn’t really going for funny with this one, but it has been my most popular ecard yet. 7,000 pins and counting!

someecards.com - Christmas time is here... ...So quit complaining it's too early and get into the holiday spirit already.

“Christmas time is here…So quit complaining it’s too early and get into the holiday spirit already.”

Yes, I’m one of the weirdos that enjoys Christmas year round. The earlier the better!

fitness

“I don’t always unfollow Pinterest boards, but when I do, it’s because you made one related to fitness.”

I don’t want to feel any lazier when I’m pinning. Pictures and quotes about running do not help!

someecards.com - The world will never be truly free of evil until group projects are extinguished.

“The world will never be truly free of evil until group projects are extinguished.”

I doubt there is a person on the planet who has enjoyed being part of a group project.

someecards.com - Of all the poop in the world, who decided that bat shit is the craziest?

“Of all the poop in the world, who decided that bat shit is the craziest?”

I still don’t understand that phrase and refuse to ever use it.

someecards.com - I hope science is eventually able to determine why exactly making a lunch every day sucks so much.

“I hope science is eventually able to determine why exactly making a lunch every day sucks so much.”

Seriously.

someecards.com - It's never not a good time to watch Mean Girls.

“It’s never not a good time to watch Mean Girls.”

On April 30, 2014, Mean Girls turns 10. Expect a shit ton of lists, stories, and whatever else marking the occasion.

someecards.com - Anyone can run a 5K. The real challenge is in not taking and posting a thousand pictures afterward.

“Anyone can run a 5K. The real challenge is in not taking and posting a thousand pictures afterward.”

I was nervous about making this one…for obvious reasons 😉

someecards.com - Few things are funnier than a good fart joke.

“Few things are funnier than a good fart joke.”

Believe it or not, this one was inspired by Mary Coll one Sunday morning!

roadrage

“I don’t always have road rage, but when I do, it’s because someone doesn’t know how to merge.”

Unlike The Most Interesting Man in the World, I ALWAYS have road rage.

someecards.com - Not sure why more of

“Not sure why more of “the most wonderful time of the year” is a bad thing, but please, keep complaining it’s too early for Christmas stuff.”

An expansion of the earlier ecard, but nonetheless, something I often wonder during the holidays.

songs

“I don’t always like new songs, but when I do, they’ve already been on the radio at least a year.”

Inspired by the “new” Avicii song, “Wake Me Up,” which was roughly a year old by the time I first heard it on The Mix.

someecards.com - I don't know about you, but I'm more upset that

“I don’t know about you, but I’m more upset that “twerking” has become an acceptable word in the English language.”

No justification needed.

someecards.com - If you don't want to leave Walmart as soon as you walk inside, you're doing something wrong.

“If you don’t want to leave Walmart as soon as you walk inside, you’re doing something wrong.”

I usually get this feeling just from the parking lot alone.

Cheers to a great 2014! And thank you to those who have enjoyed and shared the ecards and memes. Plenty more to come next year!
