A running series of songs I may not have known had it not been for movies. Or in some cases, now come to associate a certain song with the scene in which it was included.
I’m not ashamed to admit that upon hearing the title “Silver Linings Playbook,” I was expecting the movie to be about a play. Couldn’t have been more off, and thankfully so, because it turned out to be one hell of a movie. Not only did I realize what a wonderful actress Jennifer Lawrence is (hadn’t seen the “Hunger Games”), but thanks to a rather pivotal scene, it opened my ears to yet another Led Zeppelin classic I had been missing all these years.
Unfortunately, I was not able to embed the video, but you can check it out by clicking HERE.
“What Is and What Should Never Be” is up there with “Misty Mountain Hop,” and together, they are my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. As for the scene itself, it couldn’t have included a better song than “What Is and What Should Never Be,” which perfectly complements the rising action, as Bradley Cooper’s character grows increasingly frustrated while on the hunt for his wedding video. In fact, even the title of the song itself was a perfect fit, somewhat foreshadowing the film’s eventual conclusion.
Love the song. Love the film. Love Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
